Africa in Motion - Five Short Films including 'Hairat' - filmed in Harar

As part of the 2017 Africa in Motion Film Festival The Project Café is holding a multisensory, interactive cinema event combining samples of food ethically sourced from different countries in Africa with short films providing experimental snapshots of life from all over the continent, with a particular focus on landscape and space and how people engage with them.

One of the five films being shown is the Ethiopian film Hairat

Set in the walled city of Harar in Ethiopia, Hairat tells the story of Yussuf Mume Saleh, who for 35 years has travelled to the outskirts of the city to feed the hyenas that have co-existed with humans there for 500 years.
