Opening - Mothers-Land: A Photographic Journey from Wales to Ethiopia

Sunday 16th July 2006

A small photographic exhibition looking at a Cardiff filmaker's return journey to his native Ethiopia, where he met his mother for the first time in two decades. The pictures retrace Yosef Haimanont's remarkable story, including his flight to Britain at age 13 after surviving the Ethiopian civil war and famine, which made headlines throughout the world.

The moving photographs examine Yosef's return to his roots and life in Ethiopia today. Yosef's own insights accompany the pictures.

Photographs by Naseer Kathawala and Victoria Trifomenko.

The exhibition will be on view at the Addis Restaurant and Bar, 40-42 Caledonian Road, London N1 7DT.
Exhibition open during normal restaurant hours.
Admission Free.
